Richard Buckley, MD and Canfield Scientific announced the addition of a DermaGraphix Mole Mapping (Whole Body Photography) System to Pocono Medical Care Advanced Dermatology’s Skin Cancer Imaging Center in Milford, Pennsylvania.
Using a high-resolution professional digital SLR camera and advanced software, the DermaGraphix system allows physicians to map a patient’s entire skin surface creating a photographic baseline. Using this digital mole map, physicians can more easily spot new moles and moles that are rapidly changing –one of the hallmarks of melanoma.
“Mole mapping is used in most of the melanoma clinics in university hospitals and cancer centers,” said Thomas Bialoglow of Canfield Scientific. “The powerful DermaGraphix system, which is in use at Sloan-Kettering, is now also available at Pocono Medical Care Advanced Dermatology.”
“Melanoma, when detected early, is almost always curable,” said Richard Buckley, MD of Pocono Medical Care Advanced Dermatology. “Baseline mole-mapping helps me detect melanoma very early on and helps me minimize the excision of moles that are benign.”
Patients in need of DermaGraphix digital mole mapping or information on moles and melanoma can contact Pocono Medical Care Advanced Dermatology now for an appointment or brochures at 570-296-4000.

Dr. Richard Buckley said, “The DermaGraphix system also does a great job with cosmetic simulation.
